New Melle is a city in St. Charles County, Missouri, United States. The population was 124 at the 2000 census. New Melle is a sister city to Melle, Germany and celebrates its long German heritage. New Melle is a small, country community located about 37 miles west of St. Louis.

Research Tips

New Melle was settled in 1839 by Lutheran immigrants from Melle and Buer near Osnabrück in the Kingdom of Hanover, Germany. They founded St. Paul's Lutheran Church in 1844, which has church records from the 19th century and a cemetery.
