According to this page he was a Private in company E of the 7th New Hampshire Infantry and was captured on 20 Feb 1864 in Olustee, Florida. He was exchanged and returned to Regiment December 15, 1864. Mustered out December 27, 1864.

    SAMUEL ARMSTRONG, b. at Londonderry, N.H. May 27, 1823, m. Ann Maria Forsyth. She d. July 2, 1881. He resided in Pennacook and Hooksett, N.H. He served in the Mexican War, also the War of the Rebellion. Enlisted Jan 14, 1861 in the 7th N.H. Infantry and served three years; was nine months a prisoner at Andersonville. Is now in the Home for Soldiers in Togus, Me.
