Ann_Jane_Reece(3)_Portrait.jpg (27KB, MIME type: Image Information
From an undated letter, Effie Scott Mayer to her daughter: "I'm enclosing a picture of my mother, your Grandmother Scott, who was Angie Reece (Ann Jane Reece). Burton Scott gave me the negative and I'm sending you kids each a print. Our family never had a picture of our mother. So Dad borrowed a small old fashioned tin type picture from one of Mother's sisters and had it enlarged. That was many years ago. The picture came west with us and in moving around it was presented to my sister Cora. At her death the Fields' gave it to Burt and Mary Frances. The frame was big and cumbersome got battered up considerable. So Burt cut the picture out of the frame and stored it in old truck [sic]. Recently Burton dug it out with some other relics. It was quite dilapidated and marred. He took it to a photographer in Cascade to see if it could be touched up. The man did best he could then rephotographed it. This little picture is the result. Tho' Burton had a very good 8x10" made. The mouth seems a bit more prissy than the original but its all we have to show us what she looked like." From notes on back of photograph (handwriting of Effie Scott Mayer): Ann Jane Reece, about 22 yrs old in this picture. Brown hair and eyes."
