The petition of Catharine Womble widow of Jno Womble for Dower vs. The heirs of Jno Womble and those claiming under said heirs To the worshipful County Court of Edgecombe. Humbly complaining fourth unto your worship your petition as the aforesaid Catharine that sometime about the year 1821 her husband Jno Womble departed this life [?] and [?] of a tract of land lying in this county containing about seventy five acres and adjoining the lands of Henry Austin, Issac Norfleet, F. L. Darcey, Weeks Parker & William Pender. That said John Womble her husband died intestate [sic] and left the following children who are now his heirs at law, to wit Doctor Warren Womble, Nathaniel G. Womble, Mary Ann Womble, (who married Elisha Proctor in the year 1819 and died lately leaving her surviving three children, minors & her husband the said Elisha) Celia P. Sory intermarried with Josiah Sory, Jacob Womble, Benj Womble, Enos Womble, Jno Womble and Catharine Womble; the two last named of whom are infants, to whom your petition pray a guardian may be assigned to attend to their interests in their behalf- your petition has [?] informed and believes that Jacob Womble & Benjamin Womble have sold their interest in said tract to one Weeks Parker (a carpenter) - your petition also prays that a guardian may be assigned to the infant children of Mary Ann Proctor and that she may have dower allotted out of the premises – for this purpose she prays also that [?] [?] to the aforesaid Doctor W Womble, Nathaniel G Womble, the heirs of Mary Ann Proctor, Elisha Proctor, Josiah & Celia Sory, Weeks Parker, Enos Womble, File historyLegend: (cur) = this is the current file, (del) = delete
