Searching for information on Schartzwald Church in Berks Co. Pa. What township is it in? Does it still exsist? Any information on how to find records from this church would be helpful.
Vicky, Here's the answer I got when I asked a similar question. Hope it helps:
Trinity Lutheran Church -- the one in Reading.
Trinity Lutheran Church
527 Washington Street
Reading, PA 19601
610-374-4861
Trinity has had a total of three cemeteries. Two were downtown near the church. Both were relocated. Some of the bodies went to Charles Evans Cemetery, some went to the current location on South Street. Tim Breitenstein at Trinity can help you. However, be warned, there is one area for which they have no records.
Schwarzwald
The Reformed Churches split into Lutheran and United Church of Christ
branches.
Schwarzwald Lutheran Church
250 Church Lane
Reading, PA 19606
610-779-3480
Schwarzwald United Church of Christ
75 Church Lane
Reading, PA 19606

The Schwarzwald Churches and Cemetery are in a very small town called Jacksonwald in
Exeter Township. Exeter Township is just east of Reading (if Mt. Penn is on your map, it's just east of that). If you are using a road map, Rt. 422 goes right through Exeter Township.
Friedensberg -- The only one I know is actually in Schuylkill County but in a part that use to be Berks County. (On Rt. 443, just off RT. 183 south of Pottsville.) There are a number of churches in both Berks and Schuylkill names Friendens. Maybe with more information I can find out more.
Spies Old Cemetery --
Spies is really Zion Reformed or Zion Lutheran in Alsace Township, Berks Co, about 6 miles east of Reading
The phone book has a listing for Spies Zion Cemetery, the only address is Alsace Township but two phone numbers.
