Origins

Most of the Vermont Congdons appearing in the 1810-1830 censuses are in Rutland county, so it seems reasonable to assume that Amira is from one of these families. Unfortunately the town vital records in the Vermont Town Records films available at Familysearch.org appear to have lacunae over the period spanning Almira's birth.

1. ↑ Date estimated from census records, which also give state (see details on spouse's page). The 1875 NY census says that she was born in Rutland, but it says the same about Lucius, which is almost certainly incorrect. However, in contrast to the Bragg family, there were several Congdon families living in Rutland Co., so the county designation seems plausible.
2. ↑ Amira appears in the 1880 census but not in subsequent ones.
