Will Abstract

Will of Ambrose Cramer of Middleway, Jefferson Cty., state of Virginia.
Names "three single daughters of my late son Samuel J. Cramer"
Bequeaths "G.W. Sappington, my Executor, my two negroe men John & Henry Cook, in trust, for the above named daughter of my deceased son S.J. Cramer".
"Sceond, I leave & bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Smythe Davenport", "Grd. Daughters Eliza J. Davenport & her sister Ellen Harris Davenport".
"I leave the above named E. Smyth Davenport my residue legatee"
"Third, I leave to my son Ambrose M.C. Cramer, the sum of fifteen hundred dollars & my negroe woman Louisa".
"Fourth, I leave to my grand daughter Eliza J. Davenport the sum of seven hundred dollars"
"I leave & bequeath to my son Thos. Cramer the sum of five dollars, having given him very large sums before".
"Fifth, I leave to Ellen Harris Davenport the sum of Five hundred dollars".
"Sixth, I leave & bequeath to my aforesaid Executor, in Trust, the sum of one thousand dollars, for the use of Jane Miller Carson, to be put to interest & she to have it during her life & at her death the said sum of one thousand dollars to be divided as follows, one fourth to my G. Daughters of my deceased son S.J. Cramer, one fourth to my daughter Elizabeth S. Davenport, one fourth to my son A.M.C. Cramer, one fourth to E. Harris Davonport, my Grand daughter (crossed out: the sum of five hundred dollar, written underneath: I have left the above to E.H. Davenport).
"Seventh, I leave & bequeath to to Christopher Benner Burnes of Thorn hills near Emmits Burgh, state of Maryland, the sum of one hundred dollars".
"I appoint George Sappington, Executor to this my last will & testament".
"Given under my hand this 11th day of October 1841".

"Codicil to this my last Will & Testament
Whereas in the fifth section of this my last will & Testament, I left Ellen Harris Davenport the sum of Five hundred dollars, which is the sum mentioned in that section & in another through mistake I left her the same sum which I afterwards blotted it out - Given numder my hand this 5th of March 1842.
Jefferson County Sct.
At a Court held for said county on the 17th day of April 1843, the foregoing last Will & Testament of Ambrose Cramer decd. - was proved by the oaths of A.C. Timberlake & G.W. Roberts, two of the subscribing witnesses thereto & ordered to be recorded - and on the motion of George W. Sappington, the Executor named therein, who made oath according to Law, and with John H. NcEndree, John R. Flagg & William C. Worthington, his securities, entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $12,000, with condition according to Law - certificate is granted him for obtaining Probate in due form.
