From Norman:
I have finally dug up all the info I have on my 3rd Gr-grandfather Benjamin Jackson. All of it is from Federal and State Census. Some of this conflicts with what is on the Ancestry site for Benjamin Jackson and Betsey (MNU). It is as follows:

I have little doubt that Benjamin is the son of Peter & Martha Jackson. Benjamin himself is the only one who has insisted that he was born in Rensselaer County, NY, in 1805, in lieu of Vermont. Take that out of consideration and there would have been no doubt. I can understand his belief, after all he grew to adulthood in Rensselaer County, NY State. His mother may well have returned home to Vermont, where she was from, to be with her mother during the birthing process. A boy named Benjamin Jackson was born on 5 July 1805 in Vermont to Peter & Martha Jackson. I now have the birth record as proof. I also have census proof that Peter & Martha Jackson lived in Rensselaer County during 1800 and 1810 and during other dates as well. Still those census do not show spouse or give the names of the children but rather ranges of ages.

If Benjamin is wrong on his own place of birth he may well be wrong on his wife Elizabeth "Betsey" place of birth ie; Otsego County, NY, as well.

After Betsey's death Benjamin would marry Mary Butman in 1874 at Fly Creek, N.Y. Mary would die within a year.

Benjamin's D/C states he died on 7 September 1888 at Oaksville, Otsego County, NY at age 83 of old age and heart disease. He is buried next to his first wife Betsey in Fly Creek Valley Cemetery at Fly Creek, N.Y. Betsey died on 26 March 1859 at Fly Creek, N.Y

In 1880 Benjamin is found in Otsego, Otsego Co., NY. He is 73 years old, a widower, living with the family of Leander Weldon. He says both of his parents were born in New York. (Assuming he was the person who gave the information.) Norman writes: "The Weldon family that Benjamin Jackson was living with at the time of his death is his daughter-in-law Nancy Thurston Jackson's sister, Mary Thurston Weldon. Benjamin willed everything to the Weldons."
