DANIEL Townsend, SON OF JOHN 1st, lived on the place which he inherited, south of the homestead, to which he added that of his brother James, the two making the place now belonging to the family of T. W. Burtis. He married Susannah, daughter of Samuel Furman, and died July 2d, 1702.

    —Issue, Robert and Daniel.

Of Daniel, the only mention we find is in a deed of gift, from Robert to him. ROBERT married Judiah , and lived on the homestead until 1720, when he exchanged it with Caleb Coles for land at Duck Pond, where he went to live. His sons, Benjamin, Robert, and Daniel, all removed to the Oblong, Duchess County, where we lose sight of them. They sold the land at Duck Pond, given to them by their father, to Joshua Townsend, and it formed a part of the farm left by Noah to his son.

John and Elizabeth Townsend had 9 children including Daniel born Oyster Bay 1663 (or 1661?), - was of age by 1671 [incorrect, was explicitly under age in 1671, p. 90 of Townsend Memorial] - died Dutchess County [probably wrong, his descendants moved to Dutchess County, he probably died on homestead "bought of old Armitage"] 2 July 1702 - wife was Susannah Furman, daughter of Samuel and Miriam (Hoyt) Furman. In 1671 when fathers estate settled, Daniel's mother signed property settlement and Daniel was already in possession and managing property [Fanciful. Daniel was the "youngest son", and the property was "to be mine and for my use, to possess and enjoy for my use and comfort, during my life, and at my decease to be theirs", if she died, the older sons were to "have use of the boys' land" while they "take them and bring them up"].
