1840 Census West of Slate Creek, Bath Co., KY
Elias is between 40 & 50 years old with one son under 5 and 3 slaves; no wife or daughters given. This son would be the son of Elizabeth Swetnam and is probably the reason for the court suit in 1858. Later research has shown this son to be George Jackson. Elizabeth Swetnam Jackson died 27 May 1840 (per gravestone) and in Dec of 1840 Elias marries again to Frances (Fanny) Tackett.
