Sailed on the Mayflower with his parents as a teenager. While on a fishing trip for food for the colony with other members, from the mast of the sailing boat, he saw a body of water, which was investigated and found to be an inland pond. It was named Billington Sea. Francis, son of John, was named as an heir by Francis Longland in Cowbit and Spaulding, Lincolnshire, England. In 1650, a survey of lands indicated that Francis was "about 40" and living in New England.
