George Miller was born on 26th February 1882 at Horsham in Sussex, son of a railway signalman named George Strutt Miller and his wife Hannah. He was baptised on 9th April 1882 at New Fishbourne near Chichester, which is where his father was from. Young George appears in both the 1891 and 1901 censuses living at 12 Victoria Street, Horsham. By 1901 he was working as a railway engine cleaner.

Theresa's family; Theresa and George are thought to be the central two people standing at the back - indeed, this may be their wedding party.
In 1908, aged 26, George married Theresa Edwards. They married at the parish of North Mundham, near Chichester, where Theresa's parents lived in the hamlet of Runcton. At the time of their marriage George was living in Midhurst and working as a railway fireman.

After their marriage George and Theresa lived in Midhurst, appearing there in the 1911 census living at Shelley Cottages on Ashfield Road in the town. George was working for the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway at this time. George and Theresa do not appear to have had any children.

By the outbreak of the Second World War, George and Theresa were living at 57 Longford Road in Bognor Regis, a short walk from the town's railway station. George was working as a motorman for the railway. They stayed at 57 Longford Road for the rest of their lives.

Theresa died on 18th December 1958, aged 78. George outlived her by exactly a year, dying on 18th December 1959 at St Richard's Hospital in Chichester. He was 77 years old. After his death his niece Lily Louise Glover, daughter of Theresa's late sister Annie, administered his estate.

Needs to be confirmed at West Sussex Record Office. This baptism has been linked to the George Miller who married Theresa Edwards on the basis that a transcript of their marriage certificate says he was son of George 'Stuart' (possibly a mistranscription) Miller, railway signalman, and the census after George and Theresa married tells us that George was born around 1882 in Horsham. These therefore clearly point at the 1891 and 1901 censuses, each of which find young George living in Horsham with father George S. Miller and mother Hannah. Whilst it is some way from Horsham to New Fishbourne, the 1891 and 1901 censuses tell us that George's father was from the Fishbourne area, so presumably the family returned there after George's birth for his baptism.
