Facts and Events
Known as "James the Post." He was cited for bravery after the Owencarrow Viaduct Disaster in which four people were killed when a train was blown off the rails near Creeslough. James climbed 40 feet to the train where he helped rescue passengers from a car hanging off the tracks. Died while onboard the ship MV British Monarch at Rothesay Dock, Clydebank when he was struck in the head by falling cargo. |
