John Hinchliffe and his family have been very difficult to trace. There were three possible spouses, but in each case the marriage details did not agree with previously known facts. John Hinchliffe's death has not been found, but his wife was described as a widow in 1901 and 1911. There is no trace of any member of the family between 1872 and 1901.
