Revolutionary War Pension Information

Information from “Virginia/West Virginia Genealogical Data from Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Records”, Vol. 4, compiled by Patrick G. Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret., pg. 255-256:

Rork, Michael, born 9/29/1746 Bucks County, Pennsylvania; entered service 1781 in Rockingham County, Virginia, in Virginia regiment; entered service there later & brother mentioned but not named substituted for him to finish that term of service; moved 1792 to Hawkins County, Tennessee, where received pension in 1832; George Kite made affidavit then there, he was neighbor of soldier in Rockingham County, Virginia, when soldier served in Revolutionary War; soldier died 1/9/1839 in Shenandoah County, Virginia; married Letty who received Pension abt. age 90 in Hawkins County, Tennessee in 1840; John Kite made affidavit there then abt. age 73 that he knew soldier & wife prior to their marriage; Nancy Combs made affidavit in 1839 abt. age 87 in Perry County, Tennessee, she was at soldier's wedding & resided near them then, per that County Court Clerk Jesse Combs (no kinship given); widow's son John made affidavit in 1845 in Hawkins County, Tennessee, mother died there 6/24/1844; her children in 1846: James (resides in Missouri), Michael (resides in Missouri), Sally wife of Elijah Combs (resides in Kentucky), Betsy wife of Thomas Wolf ( Note: other sources have Betsy's wife as Thomas Self) (resides in Green County, Tennessee), Rebecca wife of William Tunnel (resides in Roane County, Tennessee), Hannah wife of George Reynolds (resides in McMinn County, Tennessee), Judith wife of John Kirkpatrick (resides in Hawkins County, Tennesseee), Polly wife of George Morrissett (resides in Hawkins County, Tennessee), & John (resides in Hawkins County, Tennessee).
