Pelagie Helfer (Elfer) was born to Maurice Elfer and Marie Hoffman in 1770 in the Louisiana German Coast. She died on 17 Jun 1845, in Edgard, Louisiana. Their children were Jean-Baptiste, Firmain, Geneaux, Edouard, Norbert, Celeste, Emerante and Delfine.
[edit] Inventory of the community property of the late Jean-Charles Rodrigue and his wife, Pelagie ElferNo. 23. 4-28-03. Jean-Charles Rodrigue died a few months before this date and Andry now orders an inventory and appraisal of the community property in order that there might be a settlement between Pelagie Elfer and her children, namely: Jean-Baptiste (12), Firmain (10), Geneau (8), Edouard (6), Norbert (4), Celeste, wife of Louis Picou, Emerante (11), and Eelfine (1). Inventory and appraisal made by Andre Tregre and Antoine Vicner in the presence of the widow; Louis Picou; Pierre and Francois Rodrigue, brothers of Jean-Charles; Jean-Louis Laurent and Louis de Grandmont. First item appraised is a farm 3 arpents wide bounded above by the farm of George Schof and below by that of Pierre Rodrigue. Debts owed by the succession to: the estate of Jean-Baptiste Rodrigue, and Baptiste Grima (of New Orleans). Receipt, March 26, 1804. Louis Picou declares to Andry, in the presence of Andre Deslonde and Louis de Grandmont, that he has received from his mother-in-law, Pelagie Elfer, widow of Jean-Charles Rodrigue, the sum due his wife, Celeste Rodrigue, from the succession of her father, Jean-Charles Rodrigue.
