THE KNOWLES FAMILY of EASTHAM MA (C T Libby, 1925S1): Was first in the Plymouth records in 1638 when he was charged with bringing a barke into the harbor on the Lord's day. Shipmaster, d 1670/5. Went with the Bower family to Cambridge in 1643. Provided a vessel in 1653 during the fear of armed conflict with the Dutch (as did Geo WATSON). Daughter Barbara born in Eastham in 1656 and granted land at Eastham in 1657.
