Biography of Stephen J DeBaun

Stephen Johnson DeBaun, son of Garrett DeBaun and Elizabeth Johnson, was born in Middletown, N.Y., Nov 20, 1855[1][5]. His education was obtained at the Mountain Institute of Haverstraw, where his parents removed shortly after his birth. The first two or three years after leaving school he passed as a clerk in a Haverstraw grocery. He then took up a position as an errand boy with the National Bank of Haverstraw in 1872, one year following the organization of the bank, and has since been identified with this bank, holding various positions from the lowest to that of cashier[1]. He married Adelaide Milburn, daughter of Isaac Milburn of Haverstraw, on 29 Jan 1884. He died Sept 18, 1908 of Pulmonary Tuberculosis.
