An advertisement from 1 Aug 1853 Zanesville Daily Courier states the following: A CHANGE The subscribers take pleasure in informing their friends and the public generally that they have formed a co-partnership in the Grocery business, under the name and style of Phelps & Josselyn, and have taken the old and well known stand occupied by Moses Kees, but more familiarly known as MAJ. KEES, where they will find the Major’s Beer Fountain still in operation.
They intend to keep at all times a choice stock of FAMILY GROCERIES, and intend devoting their undivided attention to their business. Their friends are most respectfully invited to give them a call. THOS R. PHELPS IRA L. JOSSELYN

THOMAS R. PHELPS, aged 77, died last Monday morning at the home of his son-in-law, T. J. DELAUNE, at Napoleonville. The funeral was held on Tuesday at St. Napoleon Church with burial in the church cemetery alongside his wife and daughter. He is survived by MRS. (DR.) E. T. DUGAS and MRS. A. MARQUETTE of Napoleonville and W. L. PHELPS of Jackson, Miss.

Died this morning at 6 o'clock at the home of Theodore J Delaune. Thomas R Phelps, aged 77 years and 8 months. The funeral services will take place tomorrow, Tuesday morning April 18th, at 9 o'clock at St. Napoleon Catholic Church, Napoleonville. One of the extra lots in Putnam was purchased in the name of Bridget Phelps, but was sold by Thomas in 1880.
Know all men by these presents, that we Alexander Sullivan and Helena L.Sullivan (wife of the said Alexander Sullivan) of the County of Muskingum in the State of Ohio, for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and Seventy five dollars, to us in hand paid by Bridget F Phelps of the County of Muskingum and State of Ohio the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge, have given, granted, bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm unto the said Bridget Phelps her heirs and assigns forever, the following real estate situated in Springfield Twp of said County of Muskingum of State of Ohio, being described as lot number nine (9) in Sullivan's Addition to the town of Putnam. To have and to hold these bargained premises to her the said Briget F Phelps, her heirs and assigns forever as a good and indefeasible estate in fee simple.
