Thomas Phelps and Eliza LeBrun were sponsors at the baptism of the infant daughter of Hiram McCall and Anna Manion.

An old ad in a copy of the Zanesville Daily Courier, from June 27, 28, and July 1, 1853, for a new grocery store run by Thos R. Phelps. It is located on Main St, 1 door from 3rd Ave.

An advertisement from 1 Aug 1853 Zanesville Daily Courier states the following:
A CHANGE
The subscribers take pleasure in informing their friends and the public generally that they have formed a co-partnership in the Grocery business, under the name and style of Phelps & Josselyn, and have taken the old and well known stand occupied by Moses Kees, but more familiarly known as MAJ. KEES, where they will find the Major’s Beer Fountain still in operation.

They intend to keep at all times a choice stock of FAMILY GROCERIES, and intend devoting their undivided attention to their business. Their friends are most respectfully invited to give them a call.

The Sunday School was organized by Rev. B. A. Brady, assisted by Miss Mary Wright, Elizabeth Crowley, Julia Sullivan, and Thomas R. Phelps; the latter was made Superintendent, and Miss Crowley, assistant.

Saint Patrick's Benevolent Society - organized March 17, 1859. The first officers were: President, George D. McMahon; Secretary, Thomas R. Phelps; Treasurer, H. J. Dennis.

Know all men by these presents that we Alexander Sullivan and Helen Sullivan (wife of the said Alexander Sullivan) of the County of Muskingum in the State of Ohio for and in consideration of Eleven hundred & fifty dolls[sic], dollars to us in hand paid by Thomas R Phelps of the County of Muskingum and State of Ohio the receipt whereof __ de[?] hereby acknowledge have given granted bargained sold aliened conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents give grant bargain sell alien convey and confirm unto the said Thomas R Phelps his heirs and assigns forever, the following real estate Situated in Springfield Township County of Muskingum State of Ohio, to wit, being described as Lot Ten (10) in Sullivan's Addition to Putnam Town and hold the said bargained premises as an indefeasible estate in fee simple to the said Thos R Phelps his heirs and assigns forever for his and their use benefit & behoof together with all the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging, and the said Alexander Sullivan covenants to & with the said Phelps that he said Sullivan has good right & lawful authority to sell and convey the premises and that I will warrant and defend the same against the lawful claims of any and all persons whatsoever, in witness whereoff the said grantors have hereunto affixed their hands and seals this 21st day of Jany. 1869.

THOMAS R. PHELPS, aged 77, died last Monday morning at the home of his son-in-law, T. J. DELAUNE, at Napoleonville. The funeral was held on Tuesday at St. Napoleon Church with burial in the church cemetery alongside his wife and daughter. He is survived by MRS. (DR.) E. T. DUGAS and MRS. A. MARQUETTE of Napoleonville and W. L. PHELPS of Jackson, Miss.

Died this morning at 6 o'clock at the home of Theodore J Delaune. Thomas R Phelps, aged 77 years and 8 months.
The funeral services will take place tomorrow, Tuesday morning April 18th, at 9 o'clock at St. Napoleon Catholic Church, Napoleonville.
Friends and acquaintances of the family are respectfully invited to attend.

One of the extra lots in Putnam was purchased in the name of Bridget Phelps, but was sold by Thomas in 1880.

Know all men by these presents, that we Alexander Sullivan and Helena L.Sullivan (wife of the said Alexander Sullivan) of the County of Muskingum in the State of Ohio, for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and Seventy five dollars, to us in hand paid by Bridget F Phelps of the County of Muskingum and State of Ohio the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge, have given, granted, bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm unto the said Bridget Phelps her heirs and assigns forever, the following real estate situated in Springfield Twp of said County of Muskingum of State of Ohio, being described as lot number nine (9) in Sullivan's Addition to the town of Putnam. To have and to hold these bargained premises to her the said Briget F Phelps, her heirs and assigns forever as a good and indefeasible estate in fee simple. And I the said Alexander Sullivan do covenant to and with the said Bridget F Phelps that I have power and lawful authority to sell and convey the said premises and that I will warrant and defend the same against the lawful claims of any and all persons whomsoever, as witness our hands and seals this 8th day of December A. D. 1870.
