The following information was received from his descendant JerryH, April 23, 2011...
"William Solomon Capes served in the 9th VA Reg't as a private, later as corporal during the Revolutionary War. Pension number is 42136.
"In 1820 Solomon stated he was 76 years old, reference the History of Stark County by Herbert T.O. Blue. H.T. Blue states Capes was buried with military honors in the old cemetery on McKinley Ave. & near the entrance to the same. I don't believe that William Capes is any way connected to a William Copis.
".... Capes came to the U.S. about 1763 from England. I found that he married Ann Campbell d/o Packsaddle James Campbell of Hollidays Cove, WV. He was about 40 and she was about 20. They settled around Steubenville. They moved to Canton, Ohio about 1806.
"He had two daughters. In later years he lived with one them on the corner Cleveland Ave & Fourth Street in Canton. In the Repository it stated he passed in 1834."
