Is Benedict Alvord/Alford's English origin still considered accurate? [7 September 2013]

The English origin given in the work Alvord Genealogy is usually cited for Benedict's origin. But I cannot find mentions of it in any scholarly work after the 1910s. Is it still considered accurate? I would very much like to clean up this line but I hesitate until I can be more certain of it.--Daniel Maxwell 07:04, 7 September 2013 (EDT)
