Bryngwyn is now a village and rural location in the principal area of Monmouthshire, Wales. It is located two miles to the west of Raglan. It is close to Raglan Castle and with easy access to Abergavenny, Usk and Monmouth. The village church is dedicated to St. Peter. A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Bryngwyn from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72: :"BRYNGWYN, a parish in Abergavenny [registration] district, Monmouth[shire]; 2½ miles WNW of Raglan [railway] station, and 7 SE by E of Abergavenny. Post Town: Raglan, under Newport, Monmouth[shire]. Acres: 1,484. Real property: £2,131. Population: 313. Houses: 72. The property is divided among a few. Bryngwyn House is the seat of Archdeacon Crawley. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Llandaff. Value: £200. Patron: the Earl of Abergavenny. The church is good. Charities, £10. In 1935, in a move to reduce the number of parishes within Abergavenny Rural District, Bryngwyn was absorbed into the civil parish of Llanarth Fawr. [edit] Research Tips
