A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Gilroe from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:

"GILROE, or Gilroes, an extra-parochial tract in Barrow-upon-Soar [registration] district, Leicester. Real property: £503. Population: 12. Houses: 2."

Gilroe or Gilroes became a civil parish in 1858 and was part of the Barrow upon Soar Rural District from 1894 until 1935 when it was absorbed into the city of Leicester.

There is no article in Wikipedia, but mention is made of two Victoria Cross winners buried at Gilroes Crematorium, Leicester.
