A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Grace Dieu from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:
- "GRACEDIEU PARK, an extra-parochial tract in the district and county of Monmouth; 4½ miles W by S of Monmouth. A small Cistertian abbey was founded here, in 1226, by John of Monmouth."
In 1935 Grace Dieu was abolished to create the parish of Llantillio Crossenny (Source: A Vision of Britain through Time)
