Jasper County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is included in the Joplin, Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of 2000, the county's population was 104,686. Its county seat is Carthage6. Jasper County is notable as one of the few counties whose largest city, Joplin, is not the county seat. The county was organized in 1841 and named for Sgt. William Jasper, hero of the American Revolutionary War.
