Little Petherick (Cornish: Nansfenten) is a village and civil parish in north Cornwall, England. It is situated two miles (3 kilometres) south of Padstow and 6 miles (9 kilometres) west of Wadebridge. The village lies in the valley of Little Petherick Creek, a tidal tributary of the River Camel. Upstream of Little Petherick the creek ceases to be tidal. The village straddles the A389 Wadebridge-Padstow road which crosses the creek at the east end of the village. Little Petherick was part of the St. Columb Major Rural District from 1894 until 1934 and located in Wadebridge Rural District from 1934 until 1968. In 1968 Wadebridge Rural District was expanded and became Wadebridge and Padstow Rural District from 1968 until 1974. [edit] Research TipsOne of the many maps available on A Vision of Britain through Time is one from the Ordnance Survey Series of 1900 illustrating the parish boundaries of Cornwall at the turn of the 20th century. This map blows up to show all the parishes and many of the small villages and hamlets. The following websites have pages explaining their provisions in WeRelate's Repository Section. Some provide free online databases.
