A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Llangoven from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:
- "LLANGOVEN, a parish in the [registration] district and county of Monmouth[shire]; 2¼ miles S by E of Raglan-Footpath [railway] station, and 5¾ SW of Monmouth. Post town, Monmouth. Acres: 1,889. Real property: £1,654. Population: 137. Houses: 24. The property is much divided. The living is a [perpetual] curacy, united with the [perpetual] curacy of Pen-y-Clawdd, in the diocese of Llandaff. Value: £120. Patrons: the Dean and Chapter of Llandaff. The church is dedicated to St. Goven, and is good. Charities, £13."
