Peitz is an Amt' ("municipal federation") in the district of Spree-Neiße, in Brandenburg, Germany. Its seat is in Peitz.

== Peitz ==

is situated 13 km northeast of Cottbus. Surrounded by freshwater lakes, it is known for its fishing industry. The town was on the border between the states of Brandenburg and Saxony, and was formerly protected by strong artillery fortifications built in brick, ( 16th century). 

Preilack is located in southern Brandenburg, about 75 miles southeast of Berlin, in the region of Lower Lusatia (in German: Niederlausitz). The nearest larger city is Cottbus, which is about 10 miles south of Preilack. In 2001, Preilack combined with the nearby town of Turnow, now known as Turnow-Preilack. Niederlausitz is inhabited by two peoples: Germans and a Slavic people known variously as the Sorbs or the Wends.

A number of people emigrated from Preilack to South Australia back in the late 1840s and 1850s.
