St. Albans St. Peter's is one of the four historic parishes which make up St. Albans, along with St. Michael's, St Stephen's and the original St. Albans Abbey. The civil parish was split into Urban and Rural parishes in 1894, with the rural part becoming St. Peter Rural (parish) in the eastern part of St. Albans Rural District. St. Peter's Urban was reduced in area in 1913 and when a section was absorbed into St. Albans Municipal Borough and abolished altogether in 1935 when the remainder was also absorbed into the borough. Since 1974 and the formation of the St. Albans District, St. Peter Rural (parish) has been split into two new civil parishes of London Colney and Colney Heath. [edit] Research Tips
