The ancient parish of St Andrew Holborn was partly within the City of London and partly in the county of Middlesex.

In the early 1700s the Queen Square area of the Middlesex section of the parish was developed, and a new chapel dedicated to St George was constructed between 1705 and 1706. In 1723 this area became the parish of St. George the Martyr.

In 1767 this area was recombined with the remaining Middlesex portion of St Andrew Holborn to create St. Andrew Holborn Above the Bars with St George the Martyr. This renamed and expanded parish is the subject of a separate page in WeRelate.

Great Ormond Street Hospital

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children lies in this parish. Records of patients from its foundation in 1852 upto 1914 are available online at the Historic Hospital Admission Records Project website. The records covered are described there as "[t]he Admission Registers of the Hospital for Sick Children at Great Ormond Street, from its opening in February 1852 until December 31st 1914, form the core of the project, and will be complemented at a later date by Registers of Cromwell House, the hospital's convalescent home, from 1869 until December 1910." These records cover children from a wide geographical area. [Copied from GENUKI with appreciation.
