Vernham Dean is a village and civil parish in the Test Valley District of Hampshire, just east of the Wiltshire border and south of the Berkshire border. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 523.
The village is about 9 miles north of Andover and 9 miles south of Hungerford in Berkshire.
A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Vernham Dean from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:
- "VERNHAM-DEAN, a parish in Andover [registration] district, Hants; 7½ miles N by W of Andover [railway] station. It has a post-office under Hungerford. Acres: 3,486. Real property, with Linkenholt: £5,167. Population of [Vernham Dean] alone: 727. Houses: 162. The property is much sub-divided. The living is a [perpetual] curacy, annexed to Hurstbourne-Tarrant. The church was recently restored. There is a Wesleyan chapel."
