Wirral was an urban district in Cheshire, England from 1933 to 1974. It was established when Wirral Rural District was abolished and covered the area south and west of Wallasey, Birkenhead and Bromborough. It included the civil parishes of Its administration ended in 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, when its area was taken to form part of the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral of the metropolitan county of Merseyside.
