Chapman obsolete [20 April 2015]

I accept that Chapman is obsolete--as are many other townships throughout Ontario. WeRelate has adopted the principle that places should be expressed as they were in 1900. You may think this is a bit odd, but we are trying to link with the names of places as they were when our forebears lived there. After all, these are the names we will find in registrations of the time.

This was a decision made in the United States, where many states had their counties and townships sorted out between 1800 and 1900. Little did they know that just over the border was a province with three different names between 1789 and 1900! Just try working south of Sault Ste Marie! Much less how our own generation re-carved all the counties within it. --Goldenoldie 21:09, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Thanks, I will revise my wording on the page.

Very good. I could suggest that you tackle the rest of Parry Sound, but I won't. <smile> --Goldenoldie 21:45, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
