UK Genealogy Archives provides a 19th century gazetteer quotation for each parish (usually different from the one used in "A Vision of Britain through Time") plus further entries describing various geographical features. Dorset has placed most of their genealogical information with Ancestry. This website and that of the The Dorset History Centre include direct links to Ancestry's databases. The initial search is free, but a subscription is necessary to get further information.

Below the gazetteer quotation are useful notes on dates of changes in administration of the parish, church records availability, places of worship in the parish, maps, and visitations heraldic.
