This database contains an index to the Attestation papers of men enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) of the First World War. Information contained in the database includes: name of enlistee, address, birthplace, birth date, age, name and relationship of next of kin, and regimental number. (Ancestry description).

Most entries include a link to an image of the front page of the attestation papers, and some have images of the back page as well. Further information can obtained by mail requests.

This was a listing of all soldiers and sailors as they were enrolled in the armed forces.

Occasionally the Ancestry.com database will have links that are not available in the LAC database.

Currently (April 2014,) LAC is in the digitizing all Military service files so that they can be accessed through this index. Visit their site for more details.
