Talk:Early Pennsylvania Families Project

How to participate [3 August 2015]

I just discovered this project page, but it would be helpful to know how to participate. I have an ancestor (Edward Way, II) who migrated to Chester County in 1685/6. Should I list him, or should I first create a Way surname page? Or should I just put this page on my watchlist and participate in discussions? (Pardon my dumb questions, but I fairly new here).--Trentf 12:54, 31 July 2015 (UTC)

Any and all methods would be appropriate. While I think it's intended to be pretty "free-form," my advice would be to follow the examples I used for the surnames I added to the page: Add the surname to the appropriate ethnic listing on the page, with a link to either the Surname Page you create or to the specific immigrant's Person Page. Additionally (or alternatively), I think you could also link the surname to the "Surname Category" page, which could serve the same purpose as the Surname Page. Good luck, and your contribution is welcome. Hope more folks can come on board and add their information to make the page more useful and helpful. --BobC 14:46, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, I added an entry of my ancestors. I have little information on them and am struggling to find anything further. In the course of my searching for further information, I found these books on Google Books and I've been looking through them, I'm not sure if they would be useful in this project:

Interested in learnning more about this [26 March 2016]

Hello I am back to WeRelate and am currently researching colonial PA ancestors. I would be interested in working with the users involved in this project. --DFree 23:07, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

You could definitely get involved! This is a very informal project and any help is appreciated.--bartsimpson 16:37, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
