Is Mary English the same person as Mary Draper [30 March 2014]
The link for Mary English on this page is to Mary Draper's person page. Her details do not seem to indicate she was captured at Fort Vause.

- There's some confusion in the documentation for these events. This listing is taken from Chalkley's Chronicles, an extract of which is at Indian Attacks of 1755-1758 in Augusta County, VA, which clearly refers to "Mrs. Mary English" as captured, with John English killed. This, however, may not be the Mary English who later married John Draper. Rather this may be a reference to John English son of Mary and John English, whose wife was (perhaps) also a Mary. It would probably take some time to sort the distinctions out, but many of the records available to us have been "filtered" by later authors (such as Peyton) and threading the needle to assure ourselves of the correct version of these stories might take a fair bit of effort. If you're up for it, a solid treatment of the confusions would be most welcome. Q 11:36, 30 March 2014 (UTC)
