1802 -- Georgia formally cedes western claims for its southern boundary at the 31st parallel.
1803 -- Louisiana Purchase from France gives U.S. immense new territory and port of New Orleans.
1805 - 1806 -- Indian cessions opened up to white settlement large portions of western (Choctaw) and northern (Chickasaw and Cherokee) Alabama.
1810 -- Alabama was a portion of the Mississippi Territory in 1810:

1814 -- August 9, 1814 -- Andrew Jackson forced headmen of both the Upper and Lower Towns of Creek to sign the Treaty of Fort Jackson, ceding 21,086,793 acres of land (half of Alabama and part of southern Georgia) to the United States government.
1817 -- Congress created The Alabama Territory ((March 3) with the enabling act, allowing the division of the Mississippi Territory and the admission of Mississippi into the union as a state.
1819 -- Alabama became the 22nd state on December 14
Montgomery County was established by dividing Monroe County on December 6, 1816 by the Mississippi Territorial Legislature.[1]
- Dallas County was created by the Alabama territorial legislature on February 9, 1818, from Montgomery County, a portion of the Creek cession of August 9, 1814.
- Bibb County was formed from Montgomery County (as Cahawba County) by an act of the Alabama General Assembly on February 7, 1818
- Perry County was formed from Cahawba, Dallas, Marengo, and Tuscaloosa counties by an act of the Alabama General Assembly on December 13, 1819
- Wilcox County was formed from Dallas and Monroe counties by an act of the Alabama General Assembly on December 13, 1819
- Lowndes County was formed from Montgomery, Dallas and Butler counties, by an act of the Alabama General Assembly on January 20, 1830.
