Edits to your pages 2 Jan 2011 [2 January 2011]Klaas, I wanted to let you know that the edits from Sunday evening that say "Add data from gedcom" JBS66 are really from User:Rwijmenga. I worked on his family matches, that is why the changes say they are from my account. --Jennifer (JBS66) 17:51, 2 January 2011 (EST) Memories van Successie [4 January 2011]Klaas, I created a sample source for Dokkum's Memories van Successie. I saw WR had these for Limburg, but not for Friesland. If you think this is a good source, I can create others for the remaining municipalities in Friesland.
Wirdum [9 January 2011]Klaas, I think that Wirdum, Groningen may have been mismatched to Wirdum, Friesland during one of your gedcom uploads. I corrected a few pages that I found. You may want to consider running an Aldfaer report on the Wirdum, Groningen people in your database to compare to their WR pages. --Jennifer (JBS66) 18:19, 8 January 2011 (EST)
I hope I found all of them, and repaired it correctly.--Klaas (Ekjansen) 07:24, 9 January 2011 (EST)
Alternate Names [9 January 2011]Klaas, another new Dutch user has a gedcom in the queue. He is using Aldfaer, and I have a question about how it handles alternate names. This user has data coming in with a format like: John (Jan) (Johannes) Swart (Smart) (Zwart). You know WR well enough to know this poses a problem. Where do you store information on alternate names in Aldfaer? Do you have any additional suggestions that I can offer this user? Thank you! --Jennifer (JBS66) 15:34, 9 January 2011 (EST)
huisjes.ged [10 January 2011]Klaas, I moved over the baron and barones titles I found to the given name field. I also found a few names that I'll need some help with:
Can you let me know which version you'd like in the primary given & surname fields, and which in the alternate fields? Thanks, --Jennifer (JBS66) 12:55, 10 January 2011 (EST)

Renaming a user's pages and duplicates [5 April 2011]Klaas, I discovered that a gedcom that was imported while I was on vacation in Sept needs a bit of cleanup... The user (Cabrioot), had patronymic names in the given name field when a surname was absent (didn't we just talk about this regarding another user :-). I am in the process of renaming as many of these pages as I can. I ran across a few that tie into your tree and I thought I would list them here in case the duplicate report doesn't catch them.

Sorry for the mess I made with the upload of my Gedcom, I will try to clean it up, and link the loose ends ...--cabrioot 15:01, 5 April 2011 (EDT)
MySources [17 January 2011]I noticed a few things as I'm fixing/deleting your MySource:Source (#) pages. This may be due to the bug we spoke about, but for the following marriages, the akte number in Genlias was different from your Source citation. When I changed it from a MySource to Source, I used the number that was in Genlias. The odd thing is that all of the numbers differed in the same way - they each had and extra 1 at the end.
If I find more differences, I'll let you know.
Also, you have a notation in some of these such as: MySource:Ekjansen/Source (66) of HCOV. What is HCOV - and do you want to keep that text? --Jennifer (JBS66) 14:39, 17 January 2011 (EST)
Gedcom source "bug" fixed now [19 January 2011]Klaas, Dallan has fixed the problem with MySource titles, so you should be all set to import gedcoms again. I will still go through your remaining MySource: Source (#) pages and move them to Sources - a few at a time... --Jennifer (JBS66) 11:36, 19 January 2011 (EST)
Aldfaer - export selected line [23 January 2011]Klaas, I was wondering if Aldfaer allows you to export a selected line of people. I may have to explain to a new user how to split his gedcom into two to get it under 5000 people. I was thinking he could create a file with the ancestors of each parent, if Aldfaer allows this, of course... --Jennifer (JBS66) 08:35, 23 January 2011 (EST)
Importing gedcom [23 January 2011]So... how did it feel to import your own gedcom :-) Welcome aboard fellow admin! --Jennifer (JBS66) 17:30, 23 January 2011 (EST)
Jierboekje [24 January 2011]Klaas, I am taking a look at the Jierboekje sources. I combined two obvious duplicates into: Source:Jierboekje fan it Genealogysk Wurkforbân (Fryske Akademy). The other source we have is Source:Fryske Akademy. Genealogysk Wurkforbân. Genealogysk Jierboekje. If these are all the same journal that changed it's name we could combine them into one source page with a title of the format: current title (Publisher). A document from the Fryske Academy says:

Redzji [24 January 2011]Klaas, when you have a spare moment, can you please take a look at User_talk:JBS66#Uploading_Gedcom_.5B24_January_2011.5D, which was a response to this User_talk:Redzji#Gedcom_uploads_.5B8_January_2011.5D?
Redzji gedcom [30 January 2011]Klaas, do you have any interest in looking at Reginald's gedcom - it's in admin review? It is looking very nice. There are a few names on the Person tab either you or I can edit (listed below). He won't need to upload a new gedcom to fix these. I matched a few of the places, there are a few from Overijssel that you may be familiar with to match as well. We don't need to match 100% of them of course.
These two surnames are listed here more as a double-check, are Koe-Joesph and Koe-Abraham actually the surname?
Your detailed eyes may pick up additional small items I missed... --Jennifer (JBS66) 12:12, 30 January 2011 (EST) I noticed the following: Jantje Jans Woudstra died 1839 not 1831: Memories van Successie Kantoor Gorredijk, overl. jaar 1839 Overledene : Jantje Jans Overleden op: 13 april 1839 Wonende te : Langezwaag Tekst: 73 jr; vrouw van Hendrik Arends Stuiver; moeder van Aaltje (vrouw van Haaye Wiegers Mink, schipper Huizum wonend in schip), Jan, veenbaas, Harmke en reeds overleden Grietje Hendriks Stuiver (vrouw van Jan Jans de Groot, schipper Oldeboorn wonend in schip; moeder van minderjarige Jan, Jantje, Hendrik, Hiltje, Arend en Klaas Jans de Groot). In the places are several cemeteries in Amsterdam mentioned (and maybe other cemeteries) these should be looked at special. I saw my ancestor Scherp Hendriks Gortemaker de Lange who will be blocked for the early date, but still very interesting.--Klaas (Ekjansen) 13:26, 30 January 2011 (EST) Thank you Klaas! With this many edits, it may warrant another fix/upload, do you agree? I am also wondering if I should get out of the middle of this... :-) I have a feeling that with this gedcom, you are more knowledgeable than I am. If you would like to take the lead - please feel free to. Otherwise, I can continue. --Jennifer (JBS66) 13:54, 30 January 2011 (EST)

Upper or lower case? [5 March 2011]I am thinking of approaching Dallan with a possible problem, but I wanted to discuss it with you first. When pages are created by importing a gedcom, they are “titled” with words such as Van Der De, etc capitalized (even if a gedcom has them as lower case). When pages are created manually, the words in these pages are titled in lower-case instead. Quite some time ago, there was a discussion about these prefixes being more accurate as lower case, so Dallan changed how pages are titled when entered manually, but he never changed gedcom uploads. We could have a page titled Albert de Jong (1) and another Albert De Jong (1). My question is, do you think this may cause any problems, and if so should we change them to be all capitalized, or lower case? --Jennifer (JBS66) 06:00, 5 March 2011 (EST)
I'm trying to trace my grandmother, who was Leone A. E. van Heemstra, born in Java in 1975, died in Portland, Oregon, USA in 1942. I do have other information, but I can't verify it. It appears that her father was in the Dutch foreign service, and traveled widely. His family may have been from Doorn and his wife may have been Scottish, with the last name of Kellick. My grandmother probably left Java around 1890 to study in Europe, and may have studied at the University of Munich before immigrating to the U.S. around 1900. Her husband, my grandfather, was Dr. Henry Welland Howard, a physician she met when they were both training to be doctors in the small U.S. town of Spokane, Washington. So many van Heemstras!
