WeRelate:Suggestions/Add Source Citation buttons before and after each Citation ID

Watchers

I like to have the birth Source Citations before the death Source Citations; now i must cut-and-paste, adjust manually. Would be great if the button called "Add source citation" with script "javascript:void(0); " be placed before and after each source citation id. Rationale: with "remove" the source citation ids are automatically adjusted in section "Events and Facts"; would be great if this also happens when inserting a new source citation before another (existing) source citation id.

example: i found a death record, i added a source citation id which now has S1. later i find a birth record, now i want S1 to be the birth record and S2 the death record.

current implementation is: a) add empty S2 beneath S1 b) move contents from S1 to S2 manually (cut and paste) c) adjust manually in Events and Facts : change S1 to S2, and add new S1 (birth citation record id)

ideal would be: a) press the "Add source citation" button ABOVE the current S1 (this is the requested button that is not yet there) b) now a new S1 appears, with the current S1 renamed to S2 and slided to below the newly created S1 c) in the Events and Facts, S1 is automagically changed to S2 (just like the opposite button "remove" would automatically change S2 back to S1 if there were S1 and S2 , and if S1 were removed)

Hope this is clear what i am trying to communicate? Best regards Ron woepwoep 13:20, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

It would probably be easier for the system to simply order source citations so they are presented in the same order their tags show up in the final display. In other words, first the ones associated with name, then the ones associated with birth, then christening, death, burial, then any ref tags embedded in the narrative, etc. Adding mechanisms to specifically control the order probably adds a lot of widgets to the screen. However, this is a potentially annoying feature, as people have been known to rearrange sources due to style or preference, i.e., usually, their source comes first. Personally, I think it is enough that the link jumps right to the source citation. --Jrich 14:27, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
auto-order could be an option, with override from the user. "a lot of widgets" is perhaps not necessary when there are things like http://jqueryui.com/sortable/ available? thx, Ron woepwoep 14:59, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
