Erastus Varner, a private of Company I,
16th Regiment Indiana Volunteers, was enrolled on the
21 day of January, 1865, at Greensburg for 1 year
and is reported: On rolls from enrollment to April
30, 1865 present. Return for March 1865 does
not report him absent. Transfered to B.13
Indiana Cavalry June 23, 1865. Roll for
July & Aug 1865 not on file. Sept & Oct 1865
present. He was mustered out of Service
with Comp'y at Vicksburg Miss Nov. 18, 1865.
Regimental Hospital Register 16" Ind. Inf. shows him
admitted Feb. 19" 65 with "Conjunctivitis Ac." retd. to
duty Feb. 22" 65. Feb 24" with "Dysentery Ac." retd. to
duty Feb. 27" April 8" 65 with "Whitlow" and retd. to
duty 16" 65. Name does not appear on Regimental
Hospital Register 13" Ind. Cav. or Morning Reports (as to
sickness) of Co. I. 16" Ind. Inf. or Co. B. 13" Ind. Cav. Regimental
Prescription Book either organization not on file. No evidence of alleged
injury.
