Biography of Anna Margaret Cheek

Anna Margaret Cheek was born on 21 September, 1843 in Illinois, the daughter of James Cheek and Elizabeth Hackney. She was married three times - first, on 17 Nov. 1859 in Coles County, Illinois, to Cornelius Ambrose (1841-abt. 1865) a Civil War soldier that probably died towards the end of (or shortly after) the Civil War (one daughter Mary Elizabeth); second before 1868, to John B. Kinser, which ended in divorce before 1880 (two sons, Frank and Eddie); and third to Lucian D. Meade (Mead) on 9 July 1885 in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, who predeceased her. Anna Margaret (Cheek) Ambrose Kinser Meade died on 27 February, 1923 in Stockton, San Joaquin County, California.

The above obituary helps to prove that Anna Margaret Cheek was married three times; first to Cornelius Ambrose on 17 Nov 1859 (daughter Mary (incorrectly listed as "May") listed in obit), second to J.B. Kinser before 1868 (sons Frank and Edward listed in obit), divorced prior to 1880, and thirdly to Lucian D. Meade on 9 July 1885. Her third marriage apparently did not result in any children, and her third husband predeased her. It is interesting to note that Anna Margaret's third husband, Lucian D. Meade was 16 years younger than her, according to Lucian's listing in the 1880 census.
