Facts and Events
Dorothy Arris spent most of her childhood living with her Aunt Dorothy and Uncle, Dick Sanborn. The arrangement amounted to an informal adoption, and was formalized as such when Dorothy became an adult. Dorothy and Dick Sanborn did not have any children of their own. The family of Dorothy, Dorothy, and Dick went to live in Concord, New Hampshire. She went to High School in Concord and had an active social life with many friends. She trained in music diligently, making All State for New Hampshire in Trumpet. Apparently, Dorothy met her future husband at all state, which was held in Nashua (about 1950). She had also learned piano by this time. After graduation from Concord High School, Dorothy attended Fisher Junior College in Boston. She was able to get some extra spending money playing piano. After Fisher, Dorothy married. In 1960, she had her only son while living in Aiken, South Carolina. The family moved a couple years after that, wanting to leave an increasingly troubled south. The family moved to Columbia Station, outside Cleveland, Ohio. She lived there for a couple more years before passing unexpectedly.
