Gwinear-Gwithian was a civil parish formed in 1934 from the former civil parishes of Gwinear and Gwithian when the two parishes were transferred from Redruth Rural District to West Penwith Rural District.
Gwinear–Gwithian (Cornish: Sen Gwynnyer–Sen Goedhyan) is a coastal civil parish in west Cornwall, England. It includes the villages of Connor Downs, Gwinear, Gwithian, Reawla and Rosewarne (which was formerly part of Camborne). The parish is situated approximately two miles (3 km) east of Hayle and two miles (3 km) west of Camborne. The population of the parish was 3,032 in the 2001 census. [edit] Research TipsOne of the many maps available on A Vision of Britain through Time is one from the Ordnance Survey Series of 1900 illustrating the parish boundaries of Cornwall at the turn of the 20th century. This map blows up to show all the parishes and many of the small villages and hamlets. The following websites have pages explaining their provisions in WeRelate's Repository Section. Some provide free online databases.
